We petition President Obama to pass a law preventing breed specific legislation (BSL). BSL targets certain breeds of dogs based upon appearance and makes it illegal to own such animals. Animals owned in an area that implements BSL are subject to seizure and death based solely upon the appearance of the animal and not based upon the temperament of the animal. Law abiding citizens are subject to fines and expensive trials if they own a certain breed in an area that implements BSL. Law abiding citizens are unable to take jobs in areas that have BSL if they own a dog that falls under BSL, or they must give up their family pet to take a job in an area that implements BSL. BSL is a form of discrimination and should be stopped. Hold the human accountable for responsible ownership of an animal.
