In 2012, the IRS delayed 90% of returns filed with the Adoption Credit. Of those 90%, 69% of applicants were audited. Out of $668.1 million, only $11 million dollars (or 1.5%) were disallowed. The IRS had to pay over $2 million in interest to those who had to wait. With all the overhead and to the IRS, it actually COST the IRS big money to go after those who adopt. The Taxpayer Advocate Service listed this issue as the #7 most serious problem with the IRS. (http://goo.gl/s3VsW).
Tell the IRS to stop targeting families who adopt. Tell the IRS to stop wasting time, money, and resources on this issue and provide the refunds in a timely manner.
