Support women by giving them more control over having children, according to their values. Poor women have the least choice as the government chose to not fund their birth control. Those same women have limited access to abortion clinics. State governments have made abortion de facto illegal by making it as burdensome as possible for women to terminate pregnancy, requiring week long wait times between appointments in far away clinics and multiplying costs by mandating procedures. In my home state of Virginia, women having healthy babies are required to watch the ultrasound of their fetus before being allowed to abort. These difficult decisions should only be made by the family and doctor involved, without shame, propaganda or moral dictum by our legislatures.
