The Federal Government says a person is not an adult until they reach the age of 18. States and counties in those states are allowed to charge persons under the age of 18 as adults whenever they see fit. A minor cannot vote, hire a lawyer, enlist in the military and a lot of other things since they are not 18. Unless its a capital crime, murder, rape, violent assault, they should not be charged as adults. The financial burden alone on the families is overwhelming. Make the states follow the Federal Government and treat minors as minors and adults as adults.
