I am a veteran whom had to remain in the state of Virginia because my husband remained on active duty in this state. I own property in this state, work in this state, and have a concealed weapons carry permit in this state and yet, I can not purchase a hand gun to protect myself. As a military spouse that is not domiciled in the state of VA, I have to relinquish my drivers license and wait 30 days to have the privilege of purchasing a hand gun. My other option is to have my husband purchase the weapon and gift it to me. I ask that legislation be produced to prevent discrimination against displaced military spouses so that we can have the opportunity to protect ourselves in absence of our military member.
