The USA is developing private, American launch services to send our astronauts to the Space Station and on other space endeavors. Given recent events in Ukraine, we should make it a priority to ensure that the development of these launchers proceeds as quickly as possible. We can do this by fully funding, and expediting the progress of, NASA's Commercial Crew Program, which gives grants to private companies developing rockets.
This will send Russia a strong message that we do not support their invasion of Crimea and will not continue to buy their rockets. It will create jobs in America and reduce the deficit through lower launch costs. It will also serve to reinforce the USA's position as the world leader in civilian and military use of space.
