Residents of Florida wish to stop and prevent the offshore drilling taking place off of the Florida coast to preserve our beaches, our ecosystems, and our tourist and fishing economy, and to prevent any possibility of disaster, such as the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
Drilling installations off of the Florida coast will have a direct negative impact on our tourist and fishing economies. It will not create jobs for our communities, but rather will inhibit our fishermen from fishing many areas on the coast. Drilling installations will directly affect our tourist economies by deteriorating Florida's coastal scenery and natural habitats, which draw millions of tourists each year.
Drilling installations will negatively affect our coastal habitats and ecosystems by creating pollution.
