stop and reverse the school closures in Chicago and demand that Mayor Rahm Emanuel reopen those schools.

The closure of 49 of Chicago's public schools represents a stain on the American conscience. The schools that Mayor Emanuel and his puppet board decided to close and/or consolidate affect students who are poor, Black, Latino, or require special education services. This petition demands that President Obama, who started his career as a grassroots organizer on the Southside of Chicago, stop Mayor Emanuel's destruction and desecration of the lives of these students, teachers, and communities.
