We're all against animal abuse in cats and dogs. Aww, they're cute, we say. No one would care as much if it was a snake being hurt. Cat, dog, and horse abuse are all some of the forms of animal abuse that are most in the public eye.
The ones our eyes tend to slip over happens right beneath our noses. And ends up on our plates.
What goes on in most slaughterhouses is awful. Anywhere else, it would qualify as animal abuse. Animals are forced into cramped quarters; have their throats slit while still conscious; and are left to rot until they reach the point of death - then, they're shipped off to be slaughtered. They then end up on our plates.
The government does absolutely nothing to stop this. It just slips by. Nobody's made a scene.
A scene needs to be made. The abuse has to stop.
