This is on behalf of all Soldiers, current and future, with tattoos. The Sergeant Major of the Army (SMA) is currently seeking to prevent Soldiers from getting sleeve tattoos or kicking out seasoned Soldiers who already have them. This is a great slap in the face to those of us who have served during 11 years of war, especially at a time when the unemployment rate is so high and Vets are already having a difficult enough time finding jobs. I would like the President to step in prevent such an egregious act. The SMA feels that tattoos are unprofessional and that it makes the Army look like a gang of thugs and bikers, professionalism is more than just a look, its knowledge and ability to perform one job, and tattoos do nothing to prevent the latter as they can be covered in uniform.
