We, the people of the United States of America, call for a clear law stating that firefighters, paramedics, and EMT’s have ultimate authority over any accidents, rescue operations, and medical treatment. A recent incident involved an on duty firefighter refusing to remove a fire truck from the defensive position on a highway designed, per training and correct practice, to prevent further injury to patients and medical personnel. The firefighter was placed under arrest for refusing the officers command to move the truck and prevented from continuing his treatment of patients and further securing of the scene. We find it necessary to protect ourselves from law enforcement officers who overstep their training and knowledge by assuming control over medical scenes and rescue operations.
