While some bully breeds show no sign of aggression and are beloved family pets, over 700 U.S. cities have enacted breed-specific legislation. Meanwhile, back yard breeding of bully breeds continues. The result is unwanted animals in overcrowded shelters with little or no hope of rescue due to their breed. These animals are bred by back yard breeders intentionally for the blood sport of dog fighting. When no longer useful, they are discarded. The cost to taxpayers and the concern for public safety can both be significantly reduced by restricting the breeding of bully breeds to registered breeders.
