Stop breed specific bans by cities and states, and instead create owner responsibility laws, and vicious dog laws.

Created by N.M. on November 22, 2012

Many cities have started breed specific bans on dogs breeds deemed dangerous by them. Pit bulls seem to be the main target, but these laws often are worded to include “or pit-bull type dogs” and many breeds are misidentified. These laws are prejudicial and are no different than banning certain races from residing inside towns. I own a Boxer that has been called a pit many times, I also have a husky that has been called everything from a wolf, a malamute and once a Chihuahua, if this happens with a husky why is not possible to consider the same may hold true of pits? If harsher laws were enacted for those training them to fight and be vicious maybe there would be less need of these types of regulations. Education, harsher punishments of owners, and case by case judgment is what is needed.
