Stop the BrightSource concentrated solar plant in the Mohave Desert from burning and killing wild birds by the thousands

Created by E.H. on August 19, 2014

There are disturbing news reports that thousands birds are being burned and killed as they fly through the area occupied by BrightSource Energy's Ivanpah solar plant. The concentrated beams of light reflected by the plant's solar mirrors are so strong that they literally ignite birds mid-air. This is a tragic and senseless slaughter. We petition the Executive branch of the U.S. government to temporarily shutdown the Ivanpah plant, as well as provide significant assistance to BrightSource in finding a scientific solution that does not compromise species or ecosystems. The pursuit of clean and renewable energy should not be at the expense of our nation's wildlife.
