The expensive and divisive practice of building interstate highways through city neighborhoods has proven to be harmful to resident's health and well being. These highways not only block neighbors access to opportunity as Secretary Foxx noted in his January speech to the Transportation Research Board at it's annual meeting in DC, but studies indicate that the harmful pollution found near highways increase problems with fertility in young women, asthma in children, and heart disease in the elderly.
A recent study by the University of California at Davis, Institute of Transportation Studies, found that, 'capacity expansion does not increase employment or other economic activity'. Too expensive to build, costly to keep up, and destructive to the people, we ask that you stop building now!!!
