Stop calling the United States a Democracy. There is a difference. We are a Republic...teach the difference.

I am frustrated with the repition of the use of the word Democracy to describe our country. It is not in fact a Democracy, but a Republic. These two forms of government are very different. Please teach this difference. Stop allowing textbooks to teach that we are Democracy. Our founding fathers knew that a Democracy would be a bad thing. It was a bad word! True Democracies are countries like Iran, Venezuela. The people elect their leaders, but the leaders are not accountable to the people once in power. In a Republic, the leaders are held accountable to the needs of the people, not their personal agendas.
