Daylight time was the idea of golfer William Willett, who wanted extra time in the evening to play golf. Congress then got into it and decided that if we went to Daylight time it would save energy. This has not been the case however, especially since it in effect only part of the year. They also did not make it universal but left it up to the states to decided if they would play along or not. This process is bad for our health as well as very expensive for companies who have offices in different zones and rules.
