The tenants living in multi unit housing want a safe place to live, but for many families the safety of the air they breathe is compromised by second and third hand tobacco smoke. Even with vaporizing on the rise, many Americans still combust cigarettes and the smokers aren't only hurting themselves, the CDC states "Tobacco smoke contains a deadly mix of more than 7,000 chemicals. Hundreds are toxic. About 70 can cause cancer."
Non-smokers supposedly have more of a right to clean air than smokers do, yet nothing has been done nationwide to protect non-smokers' rights at home. Preemption in FL prevents us from enacting any smoking bans on a community level, so action must be taken nationwide. Ban smoking in multi unit housing and designate smoking areas at least 150 feet from buildings.
