Stop collecting all phone records, domestic and international, from major carriers under the Patriot Act

It has recently been reported that the government is getting daily call information from Verizon on ALL calls, domestic and international, from all customers. We can presume this is true for all the other major carriers. This seems a massive and unnecessary overreach by the government that puts a chill on the right of free speech & association. The government should not be able to map the calling patterns of every citizen in the country. If there is a suspicion of terrorist activity, specific requests should be made for specific phone numbers. Carriers could be required to store call information for several years so historical associations of specific individuals can be examined as the need arises. This practice should be stopped immediately and existing government call records destroyed.
