Under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy, certain undocumented immigrants who entered the US under age 16, before June 2007 have gotten the opportunity to obtain a work permit and exemption from deportation. DACA applicants must give identifying information including name, address, and fingerprints. As of June 2016, nearly a million young people have applied. President-Elect Trump has pledged to deport undocumented immigrants and repeal President Obama's executive orders, which could include DACA. DACA applicants are particularly vulnerable to deportation due to the availability of their personal information. The Obama administration should immediately stop collecting DACA applications and end the program, purging the database containing the sensitive information.
