stop Columbus Day as an observed Federal holiday and give the Friday after Thanksgiving off instead

Created by L.H. on October 06, 2015

Let's face it-- since Columbus Day was created, we've all since learned that Columbus wasn't actually such a great guy. Rather than giving a three day weekend in October in observation of a man who likely contributed to killing Native Americans, why not make the Friday after Thanksgiving a holiday instead? Doing so would support families by giving them more time together, more flexibility to travel to be with loved ones, and honor the truer American tradition of friends and families coming together in the spirit of thanks.
