Comcast and Time Warner should not be able to control such a large section of the United States media landscape. According to Reuters the merger would give these companies "just under 30 percent of the market." This is too much influence for one company. By owning more of the market these two companies will have less competition, enabling them to raise prices and force content on, or restrict content from their users. Though it can be argued that mergers of this magnitude are a function of the free market, they are not healthy ones. Free markets function best when regulations prevent one entity from taking control and allow multiple competitors to compete.
