The proposed merger between Comcast and Time Warner Cable will create a company that owns just short of 30 percent of the market for home cable TV and Internet services. That's far larger than any other company - and it doesn't increase competition for these services one bit. This will only create a larger company with more lobbying power in at the state and national levels of government to slow down the development of competitive services and create no new incentives to lower prices or improve services. The U.S. has some of the highest costs in the world for home Internet and TV services. This move will only make us pay more for both cable TV and Internet, instead of encouraging more affordable services . For the sake of American competitiveness and our home budgets, this must stop - now.
