Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) happens when individuals buy, trade, or sell sexual acts with a child. The child victims are under the age of 18 and can be male, female or transgendered. One important study estimates that between 100,000-300,000 CHILDREN in the United States are at risk for CSEC each year!
The Internet, specifically websites like Backpage.com, has become the main "marketplace" to sell children for sexual exploitation. Backpage provides the biggest platform for sex trafficking of children in the United States and generates an average of $2.3 million monthly for the company.
Please issue an Executive Order or ask Congress to amend the Communications Decency Act of 1996 so websites like Backpage can be found liable for their prominent role in CSEC.
