Most businesses require an account for online transactions, and it is common for people to reuse passwords across different websites. While current technology does not require servers to store passwords in plain text in order to authenticate users, several servers still store the passwords in clear text.
Attacks on such servers could lead to stolen passwords. As a consequence, attackers gain access to multiple accounts that a user reuses passwords on.
It is about time that companies/servers are stopped from storing passwords in plain text!
