Recently, the Walt Disney Company fired 250 IT employees. Many of their jobs were transferred to immigrants on temporary visas for highly skilled technical workers, who were brought in by a foreign outsourcing firm. Some were hired back at lower wages without benefits.
The blame does not lie with the immigrants seeking a better life. It lies with American companies who seek to use this visa program to drive down wages & devalue workers; all in the name of yet more profits. Ebenezer Scrooge comes to mind.
This is offshoring jobs on American soil. With income inequality at an all time high, the government needs to represent The People and make it clear that this practice is unacceptable, overhaul the H-1B, and defend the right of workers to earn a fair living in the US.
