stop compulsory tracking of students in public schools using digital tracking devices.

Created by R.S. on November 28, 2012

The San Antonio school district has begun requiring, and other public school districts have attempted to require, students to wear electronic tracking devices using RFID and other technologies. These technologies can track students on school campuses "with GPS like precision." This practice sets the precedent that public institutions will be allowed to make the tracking of citizens compulsory. Attending public school is compulsory, ergo making students wear tracking devices at any time turns monitoring of the whereabouts of citizens by a public agency compulsory. This practice also dehumanizes citizens to the level of manufactured goods, which are tracked in exactly the same manner, and removes the presumption of privacy, even when in a bathroom.
