Our capricious Congress is on the verge of yet another government shutdown. Tens of thousands of Americans will suffer at the hands of a Congress that does not need to worry about money because they will continue to receive pay until they do their jobs and reach an agreement. There is no reason for this brinkmanship. They have no incentive to reach an agreement before shutting down the government because they will continue to draw a paycheck.
We need to do more than have a conversation about their blatant disregard for the well being of the American public. Action must be taken. Make Congress accountable. Either through executive order or support of meaningful legislation, let Congress know they must do their jobs or they will NOT get paid.
