We were Life Sharing Providers in the state of Pennsylvania. We had a gentleman in our care for eight years. We were being nominated by our program specialist for the "Life Sharing Providers of the Year award". We had a flawless record and he was a member of our "family". The company we contracted through had a death at their medical group home, falsified a complaint against us and took our Individual from us.
We worked with our Representatives office and found that Individual's that have no family or POA are prey to these corporate businesses. We felt like there was a death in the family. We never get to see him and we miss him dearly. He could not communicate well enough to ask for help. His supports coordinator was the only one privy to information- we trusted her and she failed him.
