Everybody has a credit score, and everybody should have the right to protect his/her credit scores without having to pay hundreds of dollars in fees each year. The technology to do this is quite simple and is already in place (Maine and S. Carolina are two states that do NOT allow charges for freezing/unfreezing credit scores). Unfortunately, greedy corporations have figured out another way to take advantage of hard working citizens. "Protecting" people's credit scores has turned into a shadowy billion-dollar industry. Besides third party corporations, such as LifeLock, the three credit reporting agencies have begun offering their own fee based "protection" services. Talk about the fox guarding the hen house! Congress must offer individuals a way to safeguard credit scores without fees.
