use July's Africa trip to stop crimes against humanity in South Sudan by increasing financial pressure on perpetrators.

Created by R.M. on July 06, 2015

In 2011, the United States was instrumental in helping establish the new nation of South Sudan. But in December of 2013, civil war broke out. Since that time, countless crimes against humanity have been committed. Recently, the United Nations reported the killing of civilians, the looting and destruction of villages, gang rape, immolation of rape victims, castration of young children, and the displacing over 100,000 people (http://goo.gl/DYid9q and http://goo.gl/SwTF2J).

President Obama's upcoming trip to Africa presents a unique opportunity. We call on him to follow through on imposing sanctions and financial penalties on all who commit crimes against humanity and to encourage neighboring countries to do the same. Please do not abandon the suffering people of South Sudan.
