It is our goals to have the Obama admistration end the cross-boarder trucking pilot program with Mexico. There are concerns that this program will impact the safety of our roads and may create a security breach along our southern border. Mexican trucks are older units that may not meet U.S. EPA emissions standards. We also believe this program will result in American truck drivers losing jobs. U.S. truckers are burdened with new safety, security and environmental regulations. Those regulations come with considerable compliance costs that Mexican trucking companies don’t have giving them an unfair advantage. These four issues must be addressed in the cross-border trucking program: safety, security, environmental and job loss before this program should be permitted to continue.
