Stop cutting Senior Care and Medicaid Benefits in New York

Created by P.C. on March 26, 2012

As of July 2012, under New York Governor Cuomo’s Medicaid Redesign Plan, Senior Citizens will no longer receive community-based home care. Instead they will be forced to enroll into a Long term managed-care plan run by private insurers.
In doing so, these private insurers, who will only receive a monthly flat rate, will most likely cut services and this will force care givers to put their loved ones into Nursing Homes, which in my opinion is inhumane. It is difficult enough to voluntarily put a loved one into a Nursing Home, but to be forced to do so is a just another disregard for the thousands of senior citizens and their loved ones.
