The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) is a proposed law allowing for the government mandated sharing of internet traffic information between technology and manufacturing companies and the government. This bill, if passed, would take autonomy away from tech companies in regards to whether they wish to share data with the government or not.
CISPA represents a form of internet censorship that diminishes our ability to participate in the free exchange of information and ideas. By allowing the government to observe and dictate our internet activities, CISPA not only impinges upon the freedom of expression guaranteed in the first amendment of the United States Constitution, but presents a fundamental impediment to our participation in the global exchange of information.
