There are many people in our country who came here LEGALLY and are trying to adjust their status. Filing immigration paperwork should not be a tool Homeland Security uses to detain our family members. A visa overstay is not a murder. These people are not running guns or drugs into our country, they are trying to rectify their status and pay taxes. These are the people that are being rounded up for deportation. Destroying marriages and tearing homes apart is not the way to immigration reform. Putting the families who are left behind into a financial and emotional nightmare is not solving the real immigration problem. We, the US citizen spouses, should be allowed to fight our cases, not told to meet our departing loved ones with a 40 pound suitcase. It is time for real immigration reform.
