A long time ago, the oceans were beautiful environments thriving with beautiful fish and coral reefs. Now, due to destructive fishing, there has been a lot of damage done to the underwater ecosystem. Overfishing, when people fish more than what the ocean can produce, is happening in a fourth of all the oceans. Bottom trawling is the worst. It harms many ocean ecosystems and literally brings up everything on the sea floor, including things the fishermen don't need. Sometimes, fishermen will throw sticks of dynamite into the ocean, blowing up thousands of fish and wrecking all coral reefs. Other practices include cyanide fishing, which can stun and kill marine organisms. We need to restore the ocean to its former beauty by building more marine reserves and banning destructive fishing.
