There are nearly 250,000 Veterans and service-members nationwide adversely affected by changes in the educational benefits, under the GI Bill, with respect to residency for tuition purposes. The detrimental impact has left the nearly 250,000 Veterans and service-members each having to pay an average of $10,000 per academic year out-of-pocket (while using the GI Bill) to attend a public college or university. Our service-members and Veterans should have fair and equal rights to choose what college or university, regardless of whether they choose to attend a public or private institution, to be eligible to receive up to $17,500 in education benefits per academic year.
