Please help make sure food stamps are distributed equally and fairly to those that need them most. It is appalling that widows and widowers with minor children are singled out and given an extremely low compared benefit amount compared to other families with most of the same resources simply based on the collection of survivors benefits from SSI. They count that income as double therefore allowing them to lower their benefit amount. They do this with no other group of people. They factor disabled persons on Social Security differently. This is discrimination against marital status. These are some of our most vulnerable citizens and everyone deserves to have food to eat. Help end Hunger for those families that deserve a better life after losing a spouse and parent.
