The out of touch NYC city council and mayor falsely clam they are putting this new 5 cent law into effect to save the environment from plastic threats. It's will line the pockets of green kosher merchants who will rake in over 164 million dollars a day charging local residence, tourists and passing through motorists with check out bags needing 2 or more bags to hold the weight of its contence at 5 cents a pop. The council and the Mayor chose to ignore millions of New Yorkers who rely on those bags because it's easy for them to put sacks in the trunks of their cars and use them at supermarkets. The majority of New Yorkers don't have it so simple. Supermarkets trying to reduce costs, love this law. Burn the bags in carcinogen filter incinerators if they are a problem don't bully.
