STOP EDITING IN BITS OF NATIVE AMERICAN, BLACK AND MEXICAN HISTORY INTO WHITE-CENTRIC SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS. RE-WRITE THEM!

Created by S.B. on February 09, 2014

For decades, our American History textbooks started out detailing a Colonial or white history of America. As time went on they included bits of other cultures such as Spanish (from Spain, Mexico, Puerto, etc), Black (from the African continent, Caribbean, etc) and other cultures, yet they remained white-centric. Ex. G.W. Carver invented much more than 'peanut butter'. A better method would be to create from scratch, a TIMELINE version of American history, beginning with Native American history (written by Native Americans and progressing as various cultures entered what became America; written by each culture involved. Fully inclusive of each culture's history and in brief, what (precisely) led them to America's shores and their experiences on the boats that carried them here
