Stop employers from asking the question about felony convictions on applications to stop discrimination.

Created by A.L. on October 18, 2015

Employers discriminate against applicants based on the fact they have a criminal record. Most employers throw away any application with a check mark in the box that asks about criminal convictions. All people with a criminal record are not the same and if they served their time in jail or on probation they have paid their debt to society and are now rehabilitated. Employers should not be able to ask this question, they should first decide if a person has the qualifications for the position and at the time of an interview the employer could then ask about criminal records and make decisions based on a case by case basis. People make bad choices, pick the wrong friends, and sometimes can be in the wrong place at the wrong time and end up with a criminal conviction on their record.
