I am writing his petition on behalf of all of our elders across the United States. I am a 2nd LPN student that has worked in assisted living facilities for the last 2 1/2 years. What I have learned is that in the state of Minnesota anyone off the street can work at these facilities. To me this is such a dishonor to our aging population. Not only are these under qualified personal providing one on one care, but they are handling medications as well as narcotics. In which, they are uneducated about any side effects these medications may have. Will this person know how to deal with an emergency effectively? Or be able to recognize a severe reaction to a new medication? With no required CPR certification needed can this person keep your loved one alive until the EMT gets there?
