stop the era of the imperial presidency and to return to the systems of limited government and separation of powers

Created by T.F. on January 16, 2013

Over the political history of the United States the Executive has usurped war declaring, treaty making, and domestic affairs powers. In the Constitution the Executive branch is directed to carry out the laws that the Legislature enacts, the position is also directed to be Commander-in-Chief, "when called into actual service". However a general trend has shown movement away from the Framers original intent. For example, there has not been a single declaration of war since WWII, yet our nation has been in almost constant conflict since then. Moreover many examples can be offered in light of the Executive legislating: an Executive Order. Due to the limited nature of this website this petition cannot go into further detail, suffice it to say signing should reduce rampant Executive power.
