Another person who failed to heed the very well publicized rules for hiking in grizzly bear territory was killed by a grizzly bear in Yellowstone National Park—while hiking alone—on or about Thursday, August 6, 2015. Bear DNA is being collected from the site where the body of this un-wise person was found in order to match it with a grizzly sow and her cub seen in the vicinity. Because there were no witnesses, it is impossible to know what prompted this person to be attacked and, while it is a tragedy that this person put himself at risk, the bear(s) responsible should not be killed just for being bears. Anyone who truly loved Yellowstone NP—as it is said the deceased person did—would not want any bears to be euthanized for natural behavior, even if it was the cause of their death.
