We are fundamentally opposed to the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) on a human rights level, as well as opposing it for the principles of democracy.
What has been leaked of TPP reveals language that would drive up costs of medication for both the populace and charity efforts, open up anyone who streamed or distributed copyrighted material to lawsuit, stifle innovation and small businesses, threaten Fair Use, and ultimately turn copyright law into a weapon that corporations could use to prosecute with impunity.
Furthermore, it was authored by corporate interests behind closed doors, and fast-tracking it could have Congress agree to TPP's terms without experts, the media, and the general public knowing WHAT TPP EVEN SAYS.
How can we be a democracy without involving the people?
