FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski is trying to implement the overhaul of long-standing media ownership rules to allow Rupert Murdoch to expand his media empire. This would enable media consolidation to an unprecedented level. Under the proposed rule, one company could own the major daily newspaper, two TV stations, and up to eight radio stations in your city, plus your Internet provider. It would allow one man or corporation to control almost all of the media in any American city. This rule ignores the will of the courts and Congress in terms of media consolidation. Do not let Mr. Murdoch buy the LA Times and the Chicago Tribune, while he already owns TV & radio stations, & Internet providers in the same city. Stop media consolidation! Americans need diverse voices for DEMOCRACY to work!
