Stop federal furloughs from putting harsh burdens on our civil servants who serve their nation loyally.

Created by L.S. on June 01, 2013

On Friday, May 31, 2013 the Department of the Army gave notice to all employees that they would be subject to furloughs to offset the National Deficit under the Sequester cuts. Each employee will be furloughed one day out of every week for 11 weeks, without pay, beginning July 1, 2013 until the end of the fiscal year in September. Members of Congress are receiving every Friday off with pay. Certain members of Congress refused to sign a budget that would raise taxes by closing loopholes which allow tax avoidance by the wealthy and corporations. Now they have shifted this burden on to Civil Servants who support our military in their mission of National Security, while also raising their annual income taxes by blocking the extension of the Middle Class Tax Relief Bill in 2012.
