Stop Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration from granting unsafe exemptions for truck driver trainees

Created by D.W. on January 14, 2016

CRST Van Expedited operates an unsafe student trucker 24/7 "team-driving" low wage trucking fleet.

A written test is all that is required to receive a Commercial Learner's Permit CLP. There is no “over the road” OTR training required to receive the CLP.

CRST Student/Trainees CLP holders report they are pushed to drive “team” after passing a company “skills test” although many admit they have been methodically coached to pass the test.

CRST Van Expedited has applied for an exemption to the FMCSA claiming that a CLP holder with no “OTR” driving experience can operate a truck while their co-driver is sleeping in the bunk stating it is equally safe to supervision, without providing evidence to support their position.

Stop the FMCSA from granting exemptions to team driving student fleets.
