stop FEMA from recouping Disaster Relief funds acquired legitimately by disaster victims, esp. Hurricane Katrina.

Created by V.R. on November 17, 2011

Several of my family and friends, as well as their family and friends, have been bullied by FEMA to pay back legitimately acquired Disaster Relief funds from Hurricane Katrina (2005). They use ambiguous language for the reasons why the money must be paid back, such as, "Our records indicate that multiple awards of assistance were provided to you or another member of your household for the same disaster." Many households were split up due to the storm so people with the same address may have been seeking assistance far away from other family members that were also seeking assistance. This is an unfair and unpopular practice and should be stopped. When disaster victims are picking up the pieces of their life, the last thing they need is a bill from the Federal Government.
