FGM is the cutting and partial/full removal of the female genitals. It originated in Africa, and now is a tradition in Somalia and some countries in Europe. It is a tradition in some cultures because it shows that the females are pure/virgins until they are married and it also keeps them "clean". 3 million girls are victims every year. It is highly painful and unbearable. It makes it hard to urinate and have a period. The performance is unsterile. All the instruments used are not clean. It also has negative consequences to it such as long term illnesses, infections, diseases, and in extreme cases, can cause death. Females also lose a lot of blood. They don't deserve such treatment. And it really should be illegal all around the world.
